Therefore, the sealing problem of packaging has always been a major problem of QC.

   This article takes quick-frozen dumplings as an example to analyze the sealing problem of packaging bags. Under freezing conditions, microbes will not multiply in quick-frozen dumplings, but the taste is slowly changing. Fat, vitamins and other ingredients are slowly oxidized. Therefore, the sealing performance of the product must be guaranteed during the shelf life, otherwise the packaging will be lost The meaning of bag preservation and barrier.

Test method and instrument

   The main testing standards for packaging sealing performance are GB/T 15171-1994 "Test Methods for Sealing Performance of Flexible Packages". This test uses the LTY-01 Leak tester independently developed and designed by Link Testing Instruments Co.,Ltd.

Test principle:

By vacuuming the chamber of the equipment, the sample immersed in the water in the vacuum chamber generates a pressure difference between inside and outside, and checking whether the sample has air leakage, so as to judge the sealing performance of the sample; or by checking the chamber Apply a vacuum to generate a pressure difference between the inside and outside of the sample, and determine the sealing performance of the sample by observing the sample's shape recovery after the sample expands and releases the vacuum.

Test sample and test process

Test sample: Quick-frozen dumplings in plastic packaging provided by a food factory.

Experimental procedure:

(1) Immerse the sample in the water in the chamber.

(2) Close the sealing cover, set the vacuum pressure parameters and pressure holding time to be achieved.

(3) Turn on the vacuum generator, start vacuuming, and press the start button on the equipment to start the test.

  • Observe whether continuous bubbles are generated on the packaging surface during the vacuuming process or during the pressure holding process.

Test results and analysis

The sealing performance test results of the three finished packaging bags of quick-frozen dumplings are: air leakage occurs when the side sealing edge and bottom sealing edge do not reach -90 KPa, and the sealing performance is poor.

   LTY-01 sealing tester is used to test the sealing performance of finished packaging. It is simple to operate, short in time and high in efficiency, and can accurately reflect the sealing performance of quick-frozen dumplings. Through the test of the sealing performance of the finished dumplings package, it is found that all packages are leaking, which is likely to cause quality problems such as leakage, mildew, and deterioration of the finished package. This indicates that food companies should strengthen the sealing performance test of the finished package before leaving the factory.
