Potato chips are a kind of puffed food with low moisture content and a certain amount of oil. They are sensitive to water vapor and oxygen. Test Standards and Instrument

The testing process is based on the standard GB/T 15171-1994 "Test Method for Sealing Performance of Flexible Packages", which is applicable to the test of sealing performance of sealed flexible packages made of various materials.

The testing instrument used in this test is the LTY-01 leak tester independently developed and produced by Link Testing Instruments Co.,Ltd.

Test principle: Using the principle of negative pressure method to test the sealing performance of the package is to place the package in the distilled water of the vacuum tank, and by vacuuming the inside of the vacuum tank, a certain pressure difference will be generated inside and outside the package. If the package is heat-sealed If the part or the mouth of the bottle is not tightly sealed, or if there are pinholes or other types of sealing defects on the surface of the package, the gas inside the package will leak from the weak seal, and continuous bubbles will emerge in the water. The pressure at which the package leakage occurs is leakage pressure. The larger the pressure value when the package leaks, the better sealing performance.

Test sample and test process

Test sample: In this test, a certain brand of potato chips was used as the test sample.

Experimental procedure:

(1) Pour a certain amount of distilled water into the vacuum tank, immerse the sample in the water in the vacuum tank, and cover the airtight cover.

(2) Set the parameter information such as vacuum degree and pressure holding time, turn on the vacuum pump, press the start button on the instrument panel, the test starts, and the vacuum tank is evacuated.

(3) Observe whether there are continuous air bubbles on the test surface during the process of evacuating or maintaining pressure. After the test, check to see if any liquid has penetrated the inside of the package.

Test Results and Analysis

When the negative pressure of the potato chip packaging sample tested in this test was -45.9 KPa in the vacuum tank, continuous air bubbles were generated at the junction of the upper edge and the back edge, and water infiltrated into the package, indicating that the sample was The junction of the upper edge and the back edge is poorly sealed.
