Aluminized paper is mainly composed of base paper, aluminized layer and coating. Because of its good gloss and smoothness, good flexibility, and certain barrier properties, the aluminized layer has high composite fastness, beautiful appearance and environmental protection, and has good printing properties. Therefore, it can be widely used in the exquisite packaging of tobacco, wine, bottle stickers, tea, food, cosmetics, daily chemicals, department stores, gifts, handicrafts and other products, and can also be used in building decoration materials.

Tobacco needs to be stored and sold in a dry environment, so aluminized paper provides high water vapor barrier properties, that is, the water vapor transmission rate is small, which ensures the tobacco drying environment. The use of aluminized paper not only reduces the phenomenon of tobacco being damp and moldy in high-humidity environments, but also reduces the risk of changes in tobacco quality and taste, and prolongs the shelf life of tobacco. Therefore, tobacco manufacturers should strictly control the barrier properties of aluminized paper for cigarette packs against water vapor.

Test methods and instruments

The China water vapor barrier test methods for composite film and sheet packaging include weighing method (cup method), electrolysis method, infrared method and humidity method. The reference method standards are GB 1037 "Plastic film and sheet water vapor permeability" Performance test method Cup method, GB/T 21529 Determination of water vapor transmission rate of plastic films and sheets Electrolytic sensor method, GB/T 26253 Determination of water vapor transmission rate of plastic films and sheets Infrared detector method , GB/T30412 "Plastic Film and Sheet Water Vapor Transmission Rate Determination Humidity Sensor Method", this reference standard is GB1037 "Plastic Film and Sheet Water Vapor Permeability Test Method Cup Method".

This test uses the LTWTC-203H water vapor transmission rate tester independently developed and designed by Link Testing Instruments Co., Ltd.

Test principle: LTWTC-203H adopts the test principle of the moisture permeable cup weighing method. At a certain temperature, a specific humidity difference is formed on both sides of the sample, and the water vapor enters the dry side through the sample in the moisture permeable cup. , and obtain parameters such as the water vapor transmission rate of the sample by measuring the change of the weight of the moisture permeable cup with time.

Test samples and test procedures

Test sample: a sample of aluminized paper for cigarette packs used by a tobacco brand.

Experimental procedure:

(1) Use a sampler to cut 3 samples with a diameter of 74mm from the sample for testing.

(2) Load the samples on three moisture permeable cups respectively, and then close the glass sealing door.

(3) Set parameters such as sample name, sample thickness, test temperature, and test humidity.

(4) Start the air source and click the "Start Test" option.

(5) After the test, the instrument automatically calculates and displays the test results.

Test Results and Analysis

The water vapor transmission rates of the cigarette pack aluminized paper samples tested this time are: 21.2146 g/(m2·24h), 22.1207g/(m2·24h), and 22.4576 g/(m2·24h).

The water vapor transmission rate of the aluminized paper for cigarette packs tested this time is relatively good, which can meet the normal conditions of tobacco storage, sales and circulation. LTWTC-203H Water Vapor Transmission Rate Test System is a professional instrument for testing the water vapor transmission rate of packaging materials such as film, paper, and sheet. Moisture resistance of aluminized paper.
